CommentHi Betsy, Thanks for your kind words about my photography, and also for your wisdom regarding letter writing. I plan to send a copy of your essay to my friend, Janet, (via snail mail, accompanied by a letter) who writes wonderful letters, and prefers them to email, I am sure. Mitzi

CommentBetsy....It has been way too long since I read your newsletter. LOVE your thoughts. I have plenty of those pesky teakettles here in Missouri too...even though we just moved in not too long ago. Will love keeping track of things in Michigan through you! Thank you for your wonderful writing! Judy

CommentA lovely day here in our northwest corner of Osceola County. Fall is in the air, even if the calendar still says August. The lambs and calves are growing, and the green, green pastures don't look much like late summer. It won't be long before some of the trees start to show some color other than green. Goldenrod is in full bloom, as are the little wild fall asters. The garden is trying to disappear in weeds, but around them all are loads of potatoes, beans, cabbage, broccoli, carrots, beets, and more. So each day there is something to preserve for winter. This morning it was Cheddar cauliflower, and green beans that I have ready for "dilly beans." The kitchen always smells good this time of year.

CommentHi Betsy, I love reading your news letter. Pickled beets bring back great memories of my mom. She so loved her pickles beets. We always did are canning together, I surely miss that. My son Eric, and his wife Khiela have a beautiful garden. Now it's fun to get together with Khiela, to can. They are expecting a new baby this October. It will be great to be a grandma again. Louie, however calls me Meemoe. Would love to bring him down someday to see you.
